It was clear that MGH’s story was not being heard and, as a result, some of its key medical innovations were not breaking through the clutter. This was especially true for MGH’s Heart Center, Vascular Center and Orthopedic Department. Further on a local level, MGH is not an easy location for one who is seeking treatment, situated in downtown Boston makes the Hospital difficult to reach for those in outlying areas. .

We recommended that MGH position themselves as the Hospital for those special cases for treatments that people could not find elsewhere: when other hospitals turn you away, MGH can find a solution.
