The Game of Thrones Final Season Premier was highly anticipated by millions of fans around the world. After much anticipation fans will finally be able to find out the ultimate fate of Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen and the rest of the Westerosi….but what no one expected was the fate of the Starbucks cup!
As fans gathered around their TV’s Sunday night with their Dragonglass on standby, they were prepared to watch another jaw-dropping episode but what they were not prepared for was the existence of the 21st century object.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the what seemed to be a product placement (but not really) and turned to the social media world to question the cup’s existence. Thus the image went viral as fans wondered how the show took 2 years to film but they couldn’t even spot a Starbucks cup.
Due to it going viral, Starbucks GOT some free advertising — to be exact about $2.3 billion!
Of course, we are all wondering what Starbucks had to say about this. On Monday they tweeted, “TBH we’re surprised she didn’t order a Dragon drink”. Coincidentally, Starbucks had already added a Dragonfruit beverage to their menu. Nice one Starbucks!
Now, now though, let’s settle down. It’s actually not the first time they GOT caught with a 21st century cup on screen. Look at Jaimes proudly holding his cup a few seasons earlier.
